Under general direction from the Dean of Enrollment Services, the Associate Dean of Enrollment Services plays a pivotal role in championing student success within the District. This position acts as a voice and advocate for students and staff regarding matters related to enrollment at the college; establishes collaborative relationships with campus and administrative departments and community stakeholders to advance and promote student services and both in degree and non-degree programs. This position requires a strategic thinker who can navigate complex systems while advocating for students and staff alike. This role oversees the Retention Specialists and Success Coaches and delivers high quality enrollment services, ensuring a seamless experience for students from recruitment to completion. They collaborate extensively with various departments and stakeholders to enhance recruitment efforts, foster equitable retention strategies, and analyze data to drive informed decision-making.



EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

  1. Designs professional development for staff, faculty and students to further recruitment and retention initiatives and goals.
  2. Foster partnerships with instructional deans and other administrative units to streamline processes and improve student experiences, ensuring awareness of and increased utilization by faculty and students.
  3. Collaborates and coordinates with the retention team to implement processes and practices to support equitable retention efforts.
  4. Directs the implementation of departmental policy changes, policy modifications, special assignments, departmental goals, action plans, and institutional effective plans to attain short and long-term objectives.
  5. Partners with outreach and guided entry to communicate with local feeder schools in support of retention through the guided entry process.
  6. Implements procedures to record student complaints about the student services department; Develops methods to address overarching concerns that emerge from student complaints.
  7. Develops methods to market student services to faculty, staff, administrators, board members, current students, and prospective students to assist in increasing enrollment, retention, persistence, and completion of educational objectives.
  8. Creates and coordinates communication plans for the student's journey to increase timely milestone completion.
  9. Utilize data analysis to identify enrollment trends, persistence rates, and completion metrics, with a focus on addressing and closing equity gaps.
  10. Directly manage all aspects of employee lifecycle including recruitment, transfers, suspensions, layoffs, recalls, promotions, terminations, task assignments, performance evaluations, rewards, disciplinary actions, and grievance resolution, ensuring adherence to company policies and legal requirements.
  11. Performs related duties as assigned.





MINIMUM QUALIFIATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  1. Master's Degree from an accredited college or university AND
  2. One (1) year of formal training, or leadership experience reasonably related to student services, or a related field such as supervising federally/state funded student programs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Two years of leadership experience in California Community Colleges
  • Experience with community college instructional divisions
  • Strong background in professional development

KNOWLEDGE OF:
  • Student Learning Outcomes and Program Reviews to ensure that such assessments are completed in an accurate and timely manner; ensure that such assessments are used to develop/assess short/long term departmental goals and grant outcomes.
  • State and federal regulations regarding mandated reporting to organize the gathering of information and data promptly to produce mandated reports.

  • Develop and coordinate professional development activities in various student services and instructional areas as they support the improvement of the Enrollment Services department.
  • Work with the Department of Strategic Communications and Marketing and the Department of Information Technology to develop communication plans in collaboration with departments and divisions across the district to improve communication effectiveness and outreach initiatives, ensuring cohesive messaging and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Effectively follow provisions of collective bargaining agreements and District policies as it pertains to the management of employees.
  • Maintain current on any changes to regulations or grant guidelines that govern the area of responsibility.
  • Effectively assess the achievement of short- and long-term goals.
  • Develop and maintain collegiate relationships with District staff, students, external stakeholders, and community members.
