The Office of Student Life is seeking a College Intern to support LBCC's mission to create, encourage, and support a positive, collegial learning environment whereby the educational goals of students and the college are enhanced. College Interns learn the various skills to support the growth and development of college students through co-curricular and student support functions at LBCC. The Division of Student Affairs at LBCC as a partner in the educational enterprise, contributes to the success of our students. Through services, programs and activities, the intellectual, vocational, physical, personal, social and cultural development of all students is encouraged. LBCC values and educates the "holistic student", provides quality student services, and strives to meet the needs of our diverse student populations.
College Interns will learn about the Student Life Program administration and support the goals, objectives, and its operations. The College Interns have the opportunity to develop skills in the following areas: program administration, student worker and volunteer management, event planning, critical thinking, service learning, oral and written communications, record keeping, public speaking, social media management and marketing, and time management. Primarily these College Interns will execute engagement programming that is designed to have a direct impact on student success and achievement. The goal is to increase student success, retention, and completion.
Education, Training and Experience:
College Interns must meet at least one of the following educational requirements:
1. Enrollment in bachelor's program
2. Bachelor's degree and enrollment in master's program
3. Master's degree and enrollment in doctoral program*
Students employed as interns must be enrolled in full-time status according to the California Education Code.
*Students without a master's degree in a doctoral program may be compensated at this level if they have completed the master's equivalent coursework in units. Full-time is based upon the student's academic institution's requirements.
