Classification Pay Scale
In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.
Expected Pay Scale
Minimum: $150,000.00
Maximum $240,000.00
Job Summary
The Assistant Dean, Assessment and Outcomes oversees and directs all aspects of the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific & Pacific-Northwests program effectiveness and continuous improvement process. This position will be responsible for developing data driven measures to assess and evaluate all aspects of the Colleges undergraduate medical curriculum. Collaborates with the Dean, the Curriculum Committee, the Office of Academic Affairs and other administrators to evaluate academic effectiveness. They will direct program evaluation for the college and individual programs and work with the Manager of the Assessment & Outcomes Office (AOO) to design surveys, conduct data analysis and prepare reports for internal and external purposes including grants and accreditation. Works closely with the College to design an effective and efficient data warehouse to monitor and assess curriculum outcomes and student and faculty effectiveness. Supervises all staff members of the AOO, and advises faculty members to help ensure quality educational experiences for students. Utilizes appropriate statistical software programs to perform analysis.

- Must be a results-oriented, collaborative, enthusiastic individual with leadership experience, able to interact appropriately with senior leadership, faculty, staff, students and external affiliates to anticipate potential problems, and initiate solutions.
- Management skills should include the ability to apply administrative responsibility for projects and deliverables; must be able to effectively delegate/assign tasks, as well as monitor and evaluate both performance and outcomes using a process that leads to continued program improvement.
- Excellent research design and methodology skills, i.e. qualitative and quantitative research, statistical skills and focus groups, data collection processes, including web-based surveys, paper questionnaires and use of existing databases.
- Excellent computer and analytical skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office specifically Excel (charts, pivot tables, formulas etc.), surveys and course evaluations.
- Requires knowledge of educational program delivery processes, including an understanding of undergraduate and graduate medical school education, curriculum, and program structure.
- Extensive familiarity with processes and trends associated with higher education accreditation and CQI strategies in educational planning, including knowledge of regional, national, and programmatic accreditation standards, best practices and goals.
- Knowledge of institutional self-assessment and student outcomes principles, methods, and design techniques; including but not limited to statistical principles and statistical software, data dashboards; and experience with database management and data warehouse systems, and knowledge of FERPA and related state educational data privacy laws.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects, and be flexible in job assignments.

Required Qualifications
Required Education
- D.O., M.D., PhD or equivalent required.
Experience or Training
- Experience within higher education administration & educational leadership, ideally within health professions education.
- Five plus years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified above.
- Vision for application of latest scientific advancements in assessment and data science as it relates to the selection, training, academic and practices outcomes of graduates.
